Urban Vogue – Audience Research Summary

After collecting responses from 20 participants aged 16–25, I analyzed the results to understand what my target audience wants from a modern fashion magazine focused on sustainability.

1. Audience Profile

Most respondents (around 70%) were aged 16–22, with a mix of male, female, and non-binary participants. This confirms that Urban Vogue’s target audience Gen Z readers who are style-conscious and socially aware was accurately chosen.

2. Magazine Habits

When asked how often they read fashion magazines, 60% said “sometimes” and only 15% said “often.” This shows that while my audience still enjoys fashion content, they prefer it in digital or social media formats rather than traditional print. It suggested that Urban Vogue should have a clean, digital-ready layout suitable for both online and print use.

3. Fashion Interests

The most popular topics were:

  • Sustainable/eco-friendly fashion (80%)
  • Trends and styling tips (65%)
  • DIY/thrift fashion ideas (50%)

This confirmed that my main theme  sustainability  strongly appeals to my audience. It also encouraged me to add practical style articles such as “Casual Outfits That Wow” and “Why Buying Less Means More.”

4. Design Preferences

When asked about design, most participants preferred neutral and minimalist colors (55%) followed by pastel tones (25%). This influenced my final aesthetic of warm beige, white, and orange tones seen in spreads like “White and Beige Classic Minimalist” and “Orange Neutral Modern Fashion.”

For layout, the majority (around 70%) said they preferred balanced visuals and short articles, which guided my use of short feature pieces with strong imagery and clear white space.

5. Opinions on Sustainability

Over 85% of participants said sustainability was “very important” or “quite important” when choosing clothes. Many noted that they wanted more magazines to talk about recycling, upcycling, and reusing clothes instead of promoting new purchases. This confirmed that Urban Vogue should represent eco-friendly values as a lifestyle, not just a fashion trend.

6. Interest in Urban Vogue Concept

When introduced to the idea of Urban Vogue, a magazine promoting recycled and ethical fashion — 90% said they would be interested or maybe interested in reading it. • Inspiring visuals (65%)
  • Affordable fashion ideas (60%)

7. Conclusion

The questionnaire proved essential in shaping Urban Vogue’s tone and design. I realized that my target readers value honest, creative, and sustainable fashion more than luxury or celebrity content. They want magazines that educate and inspire, not pressure them to buy.

This research directly influenced my choices in:

  • Content: Sustainable styling tips and thrift-based features.
  • Design: Minimalist layout and warm, natural color palette.
